The Lizard (Two Act Play)

Soweto, 2005. Thabo Mbeki's administration refuses to acknowledge and take action against the rampant spread of HIV and AIDS in South Africa. In the township, a young girl from a broken home, suffering from the thralls of illness, transports us through story to a mythical African utopia called The Country. However, paradise may soon be interrupted with the arrival of a stranger...The Lizard.

The Fisherman and the Idiot (One Act Play)

Translated from the “forgotten work” of Noded Badchen, this whimsically existentialist piece tells the story of two men thrust into a situation unlike any other: the stoppage of time! Together, poor fisherman Bakar and absent-minded drifter Itzal must find a way to return the world to the way it was, but with all the time in the world, darker desires bubble to the surface.

While many the world over know of defamed Paralympic champion Oscar “Blade Runner” Pistorius, very few know of the judge who presided over his infamous murder trial in 2013, Judge Thokozile Masipa.

Jumping between reimagined transcript of the trial, personal narrative, and an interview with a naive but well-intentioned American journalist, Masipa tells her story in this visceral one act piece that uses music, imagery, and rich dialogue to tackle issues of racism, sexism, and the difference between law and justice…if there even is such a thing.

When a clerical error in the afterlife sends a young nobody named Milo to Hell, he must endure group therapy for sinners in denial of their deeds. As it turns out, Hell and Heaven operate as large investment firms, and the same greed and bureaucracy that makes Hell a nightmare may provide the path to salvation for these souls in limbo. The question is, what really makes a sinner and what makes a saint?
